Anyone found any interesting sites that have sound?
It really helps for me to hear the tones.
I also find the simplified writing style easier to understand than pinyin.
For example. they say Xie Xie for thank you.
In english I pronounce this shay shay.
The pinyin looks odd to me and isn't as intuitive for my mind.
yee, uhr, san, soo, woo, lyo, chee, ba, jio, shee.
This is how I pronounce the numbers in english. yeah! I can count to 10. lol
I feel like a kid learning to speak! I can almost count to one hundred too. It's quite fun.

my opinion is that there's nothing better than PINYIN, but don't only block on it.

it's easier if u read ONLY in chinese actually. at least it's bigger, i can't see clearly very far so it's quite convenient.

good luck RASTA!""

Doutin,
Chinese language is tonal. There are, I think, 4 tones in Mandarin. As it is impossible to teach tone in writing, learning Mandarin via online is almost impossible.
Suggest that one masters the tonal difference 1st via tape or in person from someone knowledgeable. Once u know the tone, then it is ok to learn online.

dui ma (is it right), our Chinese friends ?

For me - I practise my Chinese via sms on my handphone with a Chinese friend !
