![]() | I am watching 'Desperate Housewives', I am quite impressed by its several Chinese names: 1, 绝望的主妇 2, 欲乱绝情妻 3, 靓太唔易做 The third one is totally Cantonese, it did not make sense to me in the beginning. All these three are descriptive(or too descriptive:)), that's one of the characteristics of Chinese. |

![]() | Languages can be transferable, so there are hardly any barriers between languages; but when one target language being transfered into another language, still not easily to be accepted or totally understood by the native speakers of the object language, so, that's because of the cultural barrier not the language barrier. People have to get to know the culture of another country to understand the language confusions... |

![]() | Yeah, I remember the 'pre-nup' and 'post-nup' scenes, pretty funny. I understand they do this in America, but I myself can not quite accept it. I don't think all the American couples sign a pre-nuptial contract. |

![]() | Well, I think only when one of the couple has money, and a lot of it makes the pre-nuptial agreement necessary, it happens on Chinese couples, too. But I only heard about it from newspapers or internet. If both of the couple are very rich or poor at the same time, both pre-nuptial agreement or post-nuptial are useless... This is how the rich to protect themselves in a less balanced marriage:-) |
