![]() | Yes Pinetree, you are correct !! This brings to mind, a famous song from a famous American motion picture in the mid-fifties (1956) The beautiful movie is [South Pacific], and there is a song which is sung by a young American Marine who falls in love with a beautiful Chinese/French Island girl. The song is “You have to be carefully taught” and it speaks to the fact that none of us are born with prejudices, we are all carefully taught these feelings and thoughts, as we grow. This song caused quite a ‘stir’ in America in the mid 1950’s, as segregation was still the rule in many parts of the country. And here I am today, a very tall, blue eyed, blonde haired American man who is in love with a Chinese woman who lives in China. And in my immediate family, my young Nephew who is married to a Chinese woman, and my young Niece who is married to a [very] Chinese, man !!! LOL LOL This is all so wonderful I think !! |

![]() | Have come across DongBei ren quite often during my trips to China. Yes, they tend to speak loudly and their behaviour sometimes seem rough. But after some closer contact, I realise that this was the style - they are harmless & quite friendly. At least they don't seem so petty. |
