Anyone has a job with good social status and has nearly 3 months paid holidays should have nothing to complain about, whatever the season the vacations are in.

Plenty of holidaqys for teachers. I have finished spring semester and have from now until July 2nd off. Planning to visit Xiamen...I'm psyched. Also, foreign teachers in China should start at 4000 RMB/month (with college degree) as it is far below what English teachers are paid in western countries!

If foreign teachers are complaining about being too lowly-paid, then they should consider remaining in their own countries. Is there a problem here ? I am prepared to take his/her place for less.

Teaching has always been a noble profession in China - I believe. Teachers mould future pillars of society. However the term "teacher" has changed drastically over the centuries. In days of yore, a teacher taught mainly literature and social behaviour - how to be a good person - as a son, citizen & subject. A teacher was supposed to set himself as a role model for students to follow. They really had a hand in moulding a student's personality, behaviour & character. Nowadays, teachers seem to be more of a specialists of 1-2 subjects. Some even take advantage of or don't mind being taken advantage of by their female students( assuming the teacher is a man) ! So I don't hold the individual teacher's role as high in esteem. But as a collective role, yes, I agree that their combined role is still very important.

I agree, however, foreign teachers with TEFL etc can regularly command such salaries in even smaller cities. Unfortunately this is not always the case for local teachers where averages, in my experience rarely top 1500 in general. p.s. Sorry, I hate generalisations although I do admit to generalisations here.lol!

as for foreign teachers, i don't know why they deserve the higher salary than those Chinese teachers. according to my own experience, some of them are really with little knowledge about the subject they teach. i really don't know the reason.

They are paid higher for following reasons :- 1. Must be attractive enough for them to come to China. So don't believe any foreigners telling u that they are lowly paid here. There are exception of cos. 2. To justify that they are "expert". I know for sure that expats in other industry are normally getting at least 3-4 times the normal local remuneration - depending on the country. In the case of China, it is probably even higher - some are even paid a "hardship" allowance ! Hardship my foot !! Hahaha !
