However it is a fact that more and more young people live with their lovers before marriage. It becomes so common that many traditional Chinese gradually accept it, and recently, even some deputy to the National People's Congress has proposed to abolish the concept of concubinage.

To some extent, this is a kind of attempt and progress. History and culture are created by people, including the modern especially the young generation in China, isn't it?

I stand by my comment that my most of my smaller city students (just a few hours from Beijing) are looking for just a single bf/gf that will be the right one. If they are not sure about someone they are not a gf/bf.

Back in the 60's and early 70's...the hippie and "free love" movements were in full swing.

The hippie movement provided us with intellectually feeble, pot smoking college graduates....

The "free love" movement, which led to young couples living together outside of marriage, sowed seeds of destruction for the traditional family in the US. Strong family life is rare in the US now.

Hopefully, China will be choose family over "free love."

PS - Free love is wonderful fun for young people not thinking about the future; but every choice we make has consequences, frequently unintended consequences.
