| Which dialect is hardest to understand in your opinion?? I believe 闽南话(Min 3 Nan 3 Hua 4), the one spread most in Fujian and Taiwan is hardest to understand. |

| Yes, Cali. It's said that Wenzhou Hua is the most complicated dialect in China. There's a story said that during the Anti-Japanese War, the communication of Chinese army were always listened by Japanese. Then a clever signalman used his mother togue, Wenzhou Hua, to communicate with another Wenzhou soldier. The Japanese army was so confused that they can't understand what they said! Finally, the battle won cos Wenzhou Hua. LoL |

| I think Fujian hua and the dialects in the far northeast (DongBei Hua) are quite difficult. Of course, those are the only ones I've had to encounter on a regular basis, so I may be biased. |

| RACHELS , I think Dongbei Hua is not at all difficult to understand. It is much closer to Putonghua. |

| Seems impossible to tell which dialects is the hardest. For me, some dialects are as difficult as foreign languages. I can't understand a single word of them. |

| Yes, traveldream. It's really hard to understand some dialects. Especially when people are talking fast. How about Shandong dialect? Anyone heard about this?? |

| As to Hunan (Yueyang Region) and Zhejiang (Shaoxing Region) dialects, I can understand only one word. Guess what it is? Haha, it's mama. |
