No, my friend LionPower, it is not about what you may think……It is about culture and it is about respect. It is about where this community is heading and what it wants to be known for and represent. It is about some western men, some who are American and some who are not, who under the cloak of anonymity, attempt to take advantage of the Asian hosts of this site as well as other members who are not native English speakers. They do this with their use of the English language to try to camouflage a personal agenda which may be political or one of subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, crudeness and rudeness to females and especially those from the host nation of China, who may utilize this site. I have always been a fighter for what is right. I have extensive training/background here in the USA with respect to what constitutes racial bias, prejudice, sex discrimination, and sexual harassment of women. This is my background and my culture. Maybe it is not your culture, in your world or in the world of some other non-westerners; but it should be the culture of those who claim to be from the USA, as these concepts are held strongly in both Federal and State Statutes in America. TCG is a very respected organization and this site is viewed by countless thousands of individuals around the world every day. In that regard, over the past year, I have watched the forum become more politicized and much more sexualized in thread content. It appears that some individuals have come here to promote a personal agenda which has little to do with travel to China, the beauty of China and the beauty of its people and culture. Many Asian members herein share more conservative personal values, the same as myself (nothing to do with a conservative ‘political’ agenda) ; however, they are not by nature ‘fighters’ so they just view what is posted here, do not speak up, and just keep their opinions to themselves. By some of the PM’s I receive, I know I am not alone in my views. Continued.....

Continued... This site and this forum should be a healthy environment where issues related to China are discussed in a positive and constructive manner. It should not be a forum where political agendas are put forth, or a forum for ‘the boys’ to be disrespectful to women, be they Chinese or of any other ethnicity. Moreover, my very intelligent Chinese wife, keeps me on track with my thought process, with respect to what are the true feelings/emotions of woman in China. Last, when I disagree with someone here, I keep it on the issues. I never personalize my message in a way that is mean or ugly. Most likely, due to the issue of language you did not fully comprehend what the inference (regarding San Francisco) was by the other member in his response to me ?? However, it was immature, personal, and uncalled for. That is [why] I responded with a strong personalized message in this instance. I have bitten my tongue for many months, and I am only now speaking out because I care about this forum, I care about China, and I care about my many member friends here, who do not have the command of the English language nor the ability to speak out for themselves. I will be off to Guangdong Province again in just a few days……I cannot wait to return to the China I know, love, and respect so much. I cannot wait to return to my wife. and daughter, whom I love and respect so very much. I have a life. I have a very busy career. China is forever in my Soul. I have wonderful children here in America and a wonderful wife and child in China, who will join me here in just a few months. I am here because I choose to be here and devote some precious extra time to the enrichment of the TCG and the positive understanding of China by others wishing to learn. Maybe it is time to move on and devote the extra time somewhere where it can do more good ??? Take care.

I think it is really sad that threads are starting to get like this. 1 innocent questions and it turns into a heated debate. Why??? Is there really a gulf between everyone on this site, are we so different we cant see and understand what others are writing about? is there too much misinterpretation in what we are debating and chatting about? I came on this site in the hope that I could chat to people in China or who have been so I can learn before I visit, so far I have done that and met some very nice people in the process. But what I fail to understand is why on some threads we go off on a tangent from the subject and end up slagging someone off or having tantrums. This thread started off asking if Chinese women are beautiful, a perfectly simple and innocent question that most men would answer yes or no while others would add a reason for their answer. Now, if that question is offensive to someone then I suggest they wrap up in cotton wool and stay indoors for the rest of their life. What is going to happen next? someone starts a thread saying 'do you prefer pork or chicken' and that causes offence to a vegetarian? Or maybe should I visit Beijing or Shanghai and that offends someone from Xi'an. Come on people, this is a chat site so people can talk about different subjects, so lets do exactly that.

Mr Lionpower, thank you for your input and thank you to Mr Davec, i like very much your undestanding of the question, and it was the purpose of it, the way you and all the rest have seen it and answer, i like to make sure everybody knows so, i started this thread with a question without malice or desire to cause injury or distress to any one, however it has been twist to see evil where there is not evil.. out of concern for the health and well been of Mr Rogerinca, i will not answer any longer any future statement from him, with regard this thread..... i,,,, in good faith, worry that he my get a heart attack if this cross fire continues, as i see,,, he have a beautiful chinese wife to go to. so, to continue i take a resolute stand, and say it again, I THINK CHINISE LADIES ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL,, what do you think????

Dave, let’s analyze what you have stated in your most recent post…..Quote: ”This thread started off asking if Chinese women are beautiful, a perfectly simple and innocent question that most men would answer yes or no while others would add a reason for their answer“…... Dave, in this regard, please read carefully my initial response to the question: I simply answered it with my opinion and provided my reason. Simple, and straightforward, was my answer to the topic. Next, read the [immediate] response from the author of the thread……“Mr. Rogerinca, sorry, sorry, sorry, but with the due respect, reading your words, you made me think of a [San Francisco male] more comfortable talking about his partner than about a beautiful lady”…….. Dave, for you and maybe some others here, who are not familiar with American cultural issues, what was being inferred here, was a ‘coded’ message, (a slur) that my answer was one that was very feminine and soft in tone and view; therefore I must be a man (San Francisco male) who is Gay and one who could only relate to his male ‘partner’ in such a way. Dave, this was a very personalized insult to me as a man. This is the reason I then responded in the way I did and I defend my right to do so, under these circumstances. You must understand, a man of my age, my size, and my occupation, would never/ever let another man infer something like this in person. In fact, this never could occur in person. Accordingly, to have some anonymous individual from my own nation of birth, who has such difficulty with sentence structure, punctuation and spelling within his own language; launch an attack on me, for merely stating my position, was absolutely unacceptable to me. And even today, in the latest post, he wishes to personalize more, by questioning/joking about my health and even taking the liberty to comment on the appearance of my wife, whom he does not know and never will !!! Last, look also at his response to female member May001. He is also dismissive of her point of view and in a very chauvinistic manner. Moreover, he even offers that her response is not so beautiful....as she is. I rest my case.
