Chinese say that military power is for defence not for conquer, which is the summary of lesson from our history of humiliation starting from 1840.

Yes MARRIE...military power should be for defense only....unfortunately, there are opportunist in this world who think otherwise.
As in: "The Opium Wars", Central and South America, The Hawaiian Islands debacle, etc., etc.

GUEST05022 This is a bit of a simplistic discussion

1 - China's military spending is far from transparent
2 - China's military is so large (i think the largest employer on the planet) that spending high levels doesnt not necessarily translate into high quality platforms or technology.
3 - On the other hand, costs are cheaper in China, so feeding the army etc is much cheaper than in the US or developed countries.
4 - comparing militaries based on what? Obviously China could invade and destroy israel with its superior numbers. But in a fair fight, Israel would beat China qualitatively every time.
5 - China's navy is inferior to Japan, the US, France, UK and Russia. So if you are talking about projecting force around the world, China would be much lower, where as those countries with Alliance structures that provide the necessary logistical means would come much higher (US, UK, etc)

The philippines is uncomparable to other militaries in the world as it's unmatched. This comes from their ability to wage extended war. Economically they can wage a war for a long time, be conventional limited, total war etc.

GUEST66212 India, like north korea, should be spending whatever is left in their depleted coffers on feeding its' bloated and hungry population instead of concerning itself of being a superpower. You've got to have more than just military weapons. How about a strong economy to support being a superpower. Does India or the Phillippines come close. You bet the answers' no. Who's the tagalog idiot who mentioned the fifth most corrupt country in the world and couldn't even handle a bunch af ragtag guerillas (before requesting for help). Pare, stop embarrasing the Phillippines and you should have more dignity than to mention your poor, third world countries in this discussion.
