If u were born and grew up in Shanghai. This must be your neighborhood. Hope they will never be replaced by the skycrapers coz this is live history.

Well I like the "Nong Tang" in Shanghai as well as "Hu Tong" in Beijing. It's always a funny place and one could always find what he like there^-^ But I think it's disappearing...

My favourite hotel in Shanghai is The Pujiang (Astor House). It absolutely reeks of history. A walk through it's corridors reveals pictures of such famouse guests as Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell and Charlie Chaplin.

Well... If you come to Qingdao, there will be some beach and some sightseeings with Chairman Mao on the wall...

China is a long way to go to visit a beach. Australia is blessed with some of the best beaches in the world. Tahiti and Mauritius are even better. Chairman Mao on the wall holds no appeal either. So I think I will stick to Yangshuo, Fenghuang or Shanghai. But thanks for the suggestion HERBEAT.

I'm with Bobert in recommending Yangshuo. We recently spent some time there and enjoyed the place immensely. Lots of places to visit and plenty of inexpensive hotels to choose from. If you like something a little quirky try the DIY hotel up the stairs from the bus station... and they have a great guide there.
