Chinese Netizens hit 162 million by the end of June, said the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) on Wednesday." Nearly 100 people a minute are going online for the first time." After browsing this piece of news, I was pondering what would happen if there had been no internet. If there had been no internet, we would have lived isolated; we would not have chatterd with friends on the net; we wouldn't have had the opportunities to share the extensive information very quickly. I can't imagine what is my life like if there is no internet. Browsing on the net and chattering with friens have been part of my life. Without net, I may feel isolated and alienated from others and the dazzling outer world .

Without internet, netizens will go mad. As the tempo of life accelerates, people are too busy to sit together to chat with each other, which in turn may lead to the lack of communication. Lacking communication will result in misunderstanding, conflicts and the indifference of the interpersonal relationship.

Oh dear, how did we old folk manage to live in the past? Oh I know, we wrote letters, we listened to the radio and that new-fangled contraption the TV, we played games of chess with our neighbours, we sang around the piano,/viloin/ etc. We even chatted with our neighbours instead of people on the other side of the workld. It was a terrible life!

Apault, it sounds that for people of your generation, without internet, you still lived a full and colorful life. However, time has changed a lot.We are living in a different era. Internet has become closely associated with our everyday lives. Certainly, I can not deny the fact that internet has also plenty of negative effects. For Iinstance, many kids and adults indulged in online games, and live in a world of virtual reality.

Why do we have to Imagine? WE were born without internet, most of us experienced days without it for many years, we'd all been through. If we think back from now, our life would be so inconvenient without internet, but in those we didn't have it, we were perfectly fine.

Wow, RITA, that 's it.If you have never had it, it's fine, but if you have had it, once it disappears, it will be unbearable. The feeling of loss is painful.

My daughter, 11, have over 100 friends in Msn. When she comes home, she goes straight to pc and starts chatting. Usually she chats with about 10 friends same time. While chatting, she receives text messages to her cell phone all time and also answers to them. In background there is some irc-page opened and she checks that too every now and then, if someone should be there. Kids that age live, how could I say, inside communication, afraid to be without connection. My other daughter, 9, is becoming the same. So, I have had to limit their time at pc, as well as I did limit cell phone using. Now to the point. If I am lucky this summer, I will be able to have 3 weeks summer vacation. I will go to my cottage for all that time. There is no electricity, means no tv, no computers etc. for kids. Only one small solar panel charger for their cell phones. They must minimize their cell phone use, because need only few rainy days and power off if use it too much. After 3 weeks, can You imagine, they live!!! Happens every summer!!! So loosing internet would maybe cause a chaos, but if not invented, world would still go around and phone calls and faxes would have their place like before. Carlos (shame on me, I have a small aggregate there at my cottage. I have my laptop there and internet connection. As well as my cell phone charged all time. I check my e-mail frequently and have several business calls every day.)

I have only used the internet for about the last 6 years, before that, as Paul said we wrote letters and phoned as our means of communication. My daughter spends far too much time on her computer, it drives my ex-wife wild, she can never get to check her e-mails. Alan
