On August 18th, A dating party was held in Beijigng International Sculpture Park. About over 2000 participants joined the party, 70 percent are female. Strangely,One third of the participants are parents. They came to the party to choose their future sons or daughter-in -law for their Children.

An old couple told the jounalist: " My daughter is 27 years old, but she is reluctant to attend this kind of dating party." " In fact, she nevere worries about her marriage. As parents, we are so anxious about her marriage that we come here ."

How pathetic and noble parents' love is! but their anxiety might be in vain. Hey, China's new "Arranged Marriage"!

About one third of paricipants are parents. Parents are trying hard to hunt a future son or daughter-in-law.

I feel sad for this.
Parents' interfere in the children's marriage is not reasonable.
The children have their own rights to choose their spouses.

You're right Evening, a lot of arranged marriages dont work, parents do pressure their children as to when they are going to marry though.

If you told your child to select food, they will select 'Ice cream". So parent need to support their children.

Many of the elements that made such agreements acceptable a long time ago are gone. In the pioneer west a mail order bride became a partner with her husband in survival. The husband hunted, fished and defended the home from bad men and native warriors; the woman did everything else. Together they eeked out a living.

People no longer need each other for survival so we can afford to be "picky."

Yes, I agree with EVENING'S comments. Parents should not 'dictate' their children's future. How pathetic and noble a parent's love for their children truly is! Children these days in China are mostly
宠坏了! That's Chinese for "spoiled rotten".
