Visa Application with Criminal Background

GUEST81191 ok, slightly different angle, maybe someone out the will know..

I live and work in Hong Kong on an employment visa. I'm just about to be convicted on a GBH charge.. I was planning to go to China mainland in a month or so.. My dependents visa have already been held up while the case is processed.

So my question is, would the conviction in HK prevent me from going to the mainland.. I'll not attempt the 'no convictions' idea...

GUEST12236 Mark "No". I have a criminal record and I live here in China now. If one day a certificate of no criminal record is required that may be hard. But those can be faked to if you have the money and know the right people. My advice. Do what I did, mark "no". Your private life is no one's business but your own.

A short while ago a Guest posted a comment on saying 'no' to criminal record for entering Australia. It is probably true that this is not often checked, but it is more likely to be checked if you are stopped at immigration even for something minor like a hash puppy detecting the odour from a party the night before, or just being checked at random and you being a bit low on funds to support yourself. So beware!

GUEST13160 I was convicted of a fraud act in 1994 for avoid duty on imported goods. I owned a shoe business and paid duty to a customs officer which I engaged. Even though I paid the duty to the customs agent I was deemed by the courts guilty and was sentenced to 18 months weekend detention.

I have booked flights to america for June and would like to know if I am able to obtain a entry visa to Uunited States.

Any info would be great

Hello all, Long time reader of this post, first time I've posted.

Thank you APAULT for ALL your contributions.

I haven't been able to find anything addressing the conflict of the what is stated in the work visa for the Chinese government versus the private company who is doing the hiring.

I am flying to Shanghai on Monday to have an onsite interview with a subsidiarity of a large company based in Switzerland who has operations in Taicang. I have not found anyone talk about checking no on the visa but then the company did their own background check and caught them lying. I would expect that an honest answer for the employer would be best, but it seems the opposite for the gov't. The company has already obtained a 6 month temp visa for me so I am assuming they will be doing the paperwork for the work visa.

I have read there is a difference between provinces as far as which ones require the "No Criminal Record Form".

Can anyone speak to this situation in the Jiangsu province (Shanghai area)?

GUEST22639 I put yes, yes, and no on all 3 of my visa's in that order, all approved, the last one surprisingly not cross-referenced with the first 2 apps. I don't think they will lock you up, my chinese wife doesn't think that will happen. Chinese don't care, they would likely ban you for a few years. It's unlikely they would find out at all unless you started looking up the *** on the web over there or some crap like that.
