I have a CR for copyright infringement and money laundering I am looking to work in China will i be refused and what will be the best course of action to find out before I apply. I already visit my wife who is working in china but I put No to CR on the visitors application. If I apply for a work visa I will have to produce a police report.

GUESTGUEST38171 I had a conditional discharge for public order act s4 (think disorderly conduct) in the UK 11 years ago, with £50 compensation and no other punishment.. While this has been long spent AND already filtered for enhanced DBS checks that allows me to work with children and vulnerable people in the UK, it still stays on police records making it so difficult for me obtaining work VISAS and residency abroad.

Guys - what to do? Honestly. Is there any way for me to get a job in China? Are there any loopholes, what can I do/try? I really want this. My Criminal Background checks will come clean, but police checks in the UK are a pain in the *** as they do not remove old misdeeds.

As every year goes past, more and more countries put more and more regulations in terms of criminal record checks. It's almost impossible, and so stressful for people with minor things in the past to live normal lives and travel abroad like normal people. Why the life sentence? Countries like Germany, France, Sweden... even Latvia - the vast majority of EU nations remove old minor convictions from the police database. There is a difference between law & order and terrorist.

Why do so many people have to suffer for the entirety of their lives for something minor they did in their youth over 10 years ago? Why the life sentence? Why so cruel? I just want to do good, like many other people here.

Any advice guys, how can I travel and work freely with that stupid tiny mark on my record? (I hate the UK police)

I've been to China 8 times in 8 years, after having a conviction for possession and use of Heroin, some 10 or so years ago. I was asked fro a copy of my Police Record, and supply it every year that I apply for my Visa. very important to state that you will obey all laws and Instructions from Public Figures whilst you are staying in China. i forgot once, and was asked to supply a form stating as such.

GUEST51252 Hello everyone,

I have read every post on this thread but my situation is a little different which is why I'm posting.

I have just applied for a Chinese Studies degree in the UK studying mandarin. The third year is a year abroad in China on a student visa.

I have two convictions that I got at the same time. One was for fraud and the other money laundering. I got convicted in 2015 and didn't serve a custodial sentence. I got community service and a suspended sentence instead. The problem is it took years to take me to court so the original offences are actually from 2009/2010. To cut a long story short my family got me involved with their business.

The reason I'm going back to university is to make a new life for myself and by the time I'm going to study abroad it will have been spent in the UK. I'm so upset that this will get in the way.

I'm just really concerned as this will be a longer visa that it will get in the way of things for me. Also I don't want to study at uni two years then realise I can't graduate because I can't go to China!

I may consider working in China in the future not teaching though. Any advice?

GUESTGUEST20171 Hello everyone,

Sorry to add to this very, very long thread! But my situation is different as I will be applying for a student visa.

I have just applied for a degree starting this September for Chinese Studies and it includes a year abroad in China on the third year. I'm scared as I have two criminal records which I got at the same time for fraud and money laundering in 2015. By the time I go abroad my convictions will be classed as "spent" in the UK but I'm aware it's very different for China and other countries.

Long story short I got stupidly involved in my crimes because of family asking me to help them. It took a long time to go to court and the actual offended are from 2009/2010. Just wasn't convicted until 2015!

I don't want to study hard for two years then find out I can't get a student visa due to a stupid mistake from years ago. Then find out I can't complete my degree and two years down the drain.

I'm scared a student visa will be a lot more strict than the usual tourist visa and it will be for a year. Student finance cover my funds for the trip and I would be staying on campus at a Chinese University so accommodation and money isn't an issue to clarify.

What do you guys think I'm best off doing? I'm trying to turn my life around here by going back to uni and at the time of application I would of dedicated two years to studying the culture and language of China so that must stand for something?

Thanks in advance!

GUESTGMOC Hello everyone,

I was convicted of a misdemeanor DUI and am currently on probation. I received the Chinese Government Scholarship and am slated to begin studies at a Chinese University in September. Will this conviction get my X1 visa denied? I'm leaning towards being truthful on the application and checking yes.

Thanks in advance

GUEST14061 Hi,

I will appreciate any advice. I’m a US citizen planning to go to the Chinese Embassy in DC to apply for the Chinese Tourist L Visa. I’ve already booked expensive and non-refundable travel arrangements prior to realizing China requires a visa.

I have a felony conviction for forgery from 7 years ago. I have not had any law issues prior or since.

Does the Embassy background check? Should I answer yes/no to the conviction question? I really do not want to disappoint my child, this was my Christmas gift to them.

Does anyone have a recent experience?

Thank you.

GUEST19611 Hi, I have a similar situation to many of these posts, but slightly different. I was convicted of sale of marijuana (felony in TX), 40 years ago. Should I declare the record and give a description? Or answer NO?

I need to get a visa for a trip in May to teach for a week in Beijing. Thanks for your help.
