My foreign friends, have you ever been to KTV in China? Some of my foreign friends tell me that they do not like going to KTV because it is too noisy and unpleasant. What's more, many Chinese business men invites their co-partners to go there. It seems that they could make deals easily there. Why? What do you think of KTV? Do you usually go there? Any views or opinions are welcome.

I avoid at all costs. I don't like the music much and I don't want to sing! Further, I cant see much point listening toi other people trying to sing,...why not just quietly sit and listen to the original, preferably with the volume turned down low? My employer used to takes us.... and most of my colleagues smoked...arrghhhhh. Second time I sat outside for three hours! My head of department pressured me into going twice, but after the second I flatly refused. I much preferred the trip to the mountains he organised.

But then, I'm what is affectionately (????) known as a 'grumpy old man'!!

I think it depends on your character,. If you are a quiet people, of course KTV is not a proper place to relax yourself. But, if you are a lively and ring-a-ding person, maybe KTV is somewhat a good place to entertain yourself.

Since I am a quiet person, I do not like going there either. It is too noisy. Another reason is that I do not have a 'golden throat'. But I like listening to music and pop songs. Is it strange?

GUEST81949 I have never been to KTV, and have no interest in going there, firstly i don't like to sing in public and secondly i have heard some things about the women that work there and how they offer other services to the men. So would you call KTV a brothel that has music and beer to get you into the mood. I know not all KTV's are like this but from what i have heard from others, this seems to be the point of foreign men going to these places, not just to sing but to also enjoy other services.......

When I traveled to China on business my hosts would insist on ending the evening after a really nice meal at the local KTV.
I went along because it would have been taken as an insult if I had not.
But if given the choice I would rather walk across hot coals.

Why go to a KTV when you can have a Karaoke system, invite your friends at home, have some drinks and sing to your heart’s content? The more drinks you have, the less shy you’ll be. Belt it out! Emo! It doesn’t matter if it’s in the dead of the night or at dawn. It doesn’t matter either if you can only manage to croak. O_o

Meh. I love to sing but for my ears only. Don’t wanna break anyone else’s eardrums. LOL!

Lion, what does "369" mean? I am curious? BTW, it seems that you go to KTV frequently since you have known some secret words, hehe.
