| No, there's no need to apply for a new visa. Just bring the old one along with you when you travel and show both to immigration. It's helpful to show them the page with the current visa first, and then your new passport. They'll understand. |

| Just make sure the validity period for your visa is still current. Actually, my experience is with my work visa - I'm not sure if it's any different for a tourist visa. Might be good to check with the embassy... |

| Carrying both passports is the normal international standard but I have not seen this specified anywhere in the Chinese regs. Even if it is Ok there is a fair chance of coming across an immigration oficer who has not met the situation before. You might also check if the visa can be moved! Two of mine have fallen out because of the poor quality adhesive! |

| Hi im mick, The last time I was in the embassy in Shanghai there was a guy in the same situation!! they just simply told him present both passports at custom control. |
