Cross-culture marriage has become very common in China. Yesterday, a guy from England got married with his bride with a total Chinese style wedding ceremony.

Source: Xinhua News Agency.

Do you know why does the bride step over the saddle and the brazier and eat peanut? Just make a guess.

I have a slight idea that the stepping over saddle would mean stepping over the threshold of grooms house. ?
Peanut, not a clue.

Wow, that looks so elaborate. Seems like even more expensive than a western style wedding with all those costumes and horses. ^_^”

Thanks for the info and pics!

I guess not. They key is peanut. In Chinese, it is called 花生 (Hua 1 Sheng 1). Perhaps, it has a symbolic meaning---早生贵子(giving birth to a baby early).

My brother and his wife had a very similar wedding two years ago in Xiamen.
Same costumes, tradition etc. They even made the front page of a Xiamen newspaper.
There were many people involved in the ceremony parade.

Fortunately they have much of it on video to remember the event.
