A newspaper conducted a small survey to investigate if young guys born in 1980s can cook and the result shows that about 50 percent of them can't cook. Do you belong to that 50 percent?

Those who claim that they can cook tell the newpaper that their specialty is fried shredded potato with green pepper, a very simple dish. Except this, Can they cook some more delicious food? Many of them say that they don't want to cook thought they can. Why? Their parents can cook for them and they can buy some takeaway food very easily.

As for those who can't cook, they have their way to stuff their stomach---eating instant noodles. They know that instant noodles is unnourishing but they have no choice.

I can cook but I can't claim I'm an expert. I live alone so I have to fend for myself. Instant noodles and take out food are fine but they get boring after a while.

Can I cook? Unfortunately, I can't. Once I tried to cook some vegetables but failed. It was edible but not delicious. But I can make porridge. My dad said that he enjoyed eating porridge I made, hehe.

with the fastfood chains mushrooming up in our neighbourhood, they attract younger generations who have less time to even go to the kitchen. I was brought up to be independent, where at 9 my dad had passed away, and I was no. 9 from a family of 10. My eldest brother taught us how to cook our dinners, including noodles and soups, and he was the chef for my wedding reception of 1500 guests I learnt a few international cuisines, but with health contraints, I still cook but just simple Thai sour soup (tomyum) and its related delicacy.

I don't belong to the post 1980 era.

I’m a little pre 1980’s so I can cook if I have too but being lazy and a chauvinist pig prevent me from entering the kitchen unless there is an emergency.
Both of my sons can cook the basics.
My Wife has just leaned to cook. She used to live close to her parents and they’d bring the meals round to her. She may have been the first of the Pandas.

I love cooking when I get the chance, at the moment I leave home for work at 11.00 and return at about 23.30 so not much time to cook except the weekends.

I also love to cook, pretty much anything edible & I'll give it a go. Just learned how to cook congee, tasted great! Like Alan my day is busy, up at 6 & home in the eve around 7.30 but still manage to squeeze in a meal, usually something fast, chinese food is quick & ideal otherwise I cook enough food to last 2 days...

Then why do you waste your talent, GUEST98758? It is a pity! You might have been a great chef, hehe.

My friend tries his luck in the kitchen for 15 years for fun and later specialises in Italian kitchen. He started from Commis, Chef de Partie to Junior Sous chef with Sheraton and now moves to a smaller establishment, getting USD4000 per month (which I think the payment is quite high in my locality).

Wanhu, your friend is an excellent guy.

I am with Kungfupanda. If you have the talent, just make use of it.
