Many restaurants now observe a unwritten rule set by themselves: Customers can't bring in drinks, food or beverage to their restaurants. If they bring in these things, the restaurants will charge the customers a certain amount of service fee. I had such an experience before. The boss of that restaurant refused us to bring in drinks and finally we left and chose another one. It is really unfair. Have you had this experience before? What do you think of this rule?

Unfair? So you are going to take your own drink, own glasses and do all the work yourself? Or are you expecting the restaurant to supply you glasses which they have to clean later for no charge? They are a business, not a charity

The drinks in the restaurants are too expensive. That's why people bring their drinks into the restaurants. I think that the restaurants can charge the corkage fee. Meanwhile, they can allow the customers to bring their drinks into the restaurants.

We need to respect and abide the rule(s) stipulated by the business proprietor. He is doing business, selling food and drinks and if a customer is allowed to bring his own drink, is it not unfair for the proprietor too? If the restaurant charges too high, then don't patronise that restaurant. If the food is too delicious to resist, tabau. Wan

If they charge me reasonably, I will abide the rule. The fact is that they sell drinks too expensively.
