I will be arriving at 9;45 AM on Thursday at the airport. Can anyone help me . I need to go to Jinan via the railroad. Which railway station do I go to and how do I get to the rail station from airport? Is there a shuttle or bus? Are rail tickets easy to purchase that day? Around how much?

Hi Watcher2,

The website below is for the airport shuttle bus. Route 3 goes closest to Beijing Train Station (note, this is not Beijing South/West or North Train Station). You can also get a taxi. Airport is about 20-30 mins from the city.
http://en.bcia.com.cn/traffic-manual/airport-bus-map.shtml

On TCG, this website, at the top is a train search. If you put in Beijing to Jinan, a whole list of trains will come up with times, and prices for tickets. It's usually pretty accurate - I always use it. As you will see, trains leave from BJ South or BJ Train Station.

Whether or not you can buy a ticket for the same day really depends on the day. Be prepared to not be able to, and stay a night in BJ.

Have a good trip, LC

If you want one of those fast D trains, you'll need to go to Beijing South long-distance bus station. Below are the departures that you might be most able to catch, assuming you're successful in buying tickets.

Beijing South -- Jinan East:
D55 (1115--1423)
D57 (1325--1639)
D59 (1605--1915)

Beijing South -- Jinan:
D39 (1420--1726)
D37 (1430--1731)
D33 (1431--1806)

No airport shuttle or metro stop at Beijing South train station. Either take a taxi there, or you'll have to change transport along the way.

GUEST22293 How much would a taxi be from the airport to Beijing south train station? How long approximately would it take to get there? Should I just say to a taxi driver "take me to Beijing south train station?"

Depending on traffic conditions, it should be around perhaps 120-150 RMB and 1-1.5 hours in the daytime, it'll cost more with the midnight surcharge.
Having 北京南站 written down would be more helpful.

Shahid911, I replied to you on your own post already. But to be honest I don't think there's possibility for you to get the train ticket...

GUEST3434 You can take this route: Beijing-Weifang-Qingdao-Lingyi-Xuzhou-Shanghai. It is easy and convenient to travel among these cities by D/G trains. Then you can fly back to Dubai by flight.

The trains from Beijing to Changsha almost depart from Beijing West Railway Station(北京西站). You can take airport express (CNY 25) and get off at Dongzhimen and then walk around 150 meters to North Dongzhimen Station(东直门北站). There you can take T2 bus to Beijing West Railway Station.
