Wu Bin was an ordinary long distance bus driver in Hangzhou. On May 29, he was injured by a flying brake shoe when he drove on the highway. Though Wu Bin suffered from unbearable pain, he tried his best to stop the bus on the highway. When the bus stopped steadily, he asked the passenger to call 110 and 120 and warned the passengers not to walk on the highway because it was dangerous.

Due to severe injury, he lost his life in the hospital. According to the doctor, Wu’s right hepatic lobe was totally broken by the flying brake shoe and 70 percent of his left hepatic lobe was broken. The doctor couldn’t believe how he could stop a bus at the speed of more than 100 kilometers when he was injured so badly.

Wu Bin sacrificed his own life to save all passengers on the bus. The domestic Chinese media has widely praised him for his heroic deeds.

Well, Wu actually just did what a driver should do. He fulfilled his responsibility to keep his passenger safe. What’s more, it was just an accident that he was hit by a flying brake shoe on the high way.

In my view, it is not necessary for the Chinese media to report and praise his deed. Do you agree?

I feel pity that he lost his life. But it's a driver's responsibility to keep his passengers safe. By the way, it is an accident.

It maybe his responsibility, but what he has done should be highlighted. Indeed it is an accident, but how many people would do this heroic act? Even the physician was baffled how a person with that kind of injury could stop a speeding bus!

Wan,

He is undoubtedly a good driver. The driver who lost his brake shoe was already found. He said that he didn't know his brake shoe was broken and lost.

No matter what kind of honor we give to him, he can't be alive again. I think all drivers should learn a lesson from this.

Do remember to examine your car or bus carefully and frequently because you are responsible for your own safety as well as others on the road.

For company buses, most checking and inspection should be done by the company foreman at its designated workshop.

If we think of responsibility, then we should never praise our leaders and teachers, because they are being paid too. Only our parents are not being paid but then it's their responsibility as parents to take care of us.

Everyone has his/her responsibility but some fail to fulfill their responsibilities. If everyone fulfill his/her responsibilities, we needn't praise good people because everyone is good.

Perhaps praising is part of the carrot.

Yes. But sometimes we needn't call on people to learn from heros. When I was young, we were called on to learn from a young hero called Lai Ning who sacrificed his life for putting out a big fire. He just used a pine branch to put out the fire. Finally, the fire was put out but he was dead. He was just 15 years old.

Do you think we should learn from him? Someone said 'No'. A 15 years old boy couldn't put out a big fire. He should have informed more people of the big fire so that they could put out the fire together and easily.

Honestly, I will ask my kid not to learn from him in the future. There are many ways of helping others. The priority is to keep yourself safe and then figure out a way to help others out.
