In the picture below, A Qi, a 69-year old blacksmith from Zhejiang Province is practicing hanging Kungfu by clinging to a basin hung to a tree, using his belly. He has been very famous for doing this in the local. Actually, this is kind of Chinese Kungfu called Rigid Qigong. A Qi has practiced it for more than one year and never stopped, neither in intense hot summer nor severe cold winter.

I saw this plot many times in costume sword-play drama. A spear sticks into a man's throat and bends but he is fine. He must practice rigid Qigong too. |

I met a Qigong master in Shenzhen in 2005. Wan

I once saw on TV that a man break the Guinness by using rigid Qigong to drag a bus, just like what in this picture. Great master of Qigong plus strength

In Malaysia besides master Qigong we also have kavadi bearers, that can been seen during one of the Hindu annual celebrations called Thaipusam. Wan

Wan, Did he feel painful? It's suffering to me.

This looks painful, I cannot bear to look at it. Compared with kavadi bearers, the rigid Qigong maybe safer.

The Kavadi bearers need to fast and drink only milk before performing the feat. According to the bearers they didn't feel any pain. For further reading you may find in a doctoral thesis, "Pierced by a Murugan's Lance" by Elizabeth Fuller Collins. Thaipusam and Kavadi bearers (due to their vows) are celebrated and performed every year at Batu Caves, Malaysia. Wan

They didn't feel any pain? Horrible! Is it possible that they felt the pain but didn't shout out? Or is their skin made of iron?
