How much do you spend per day on meals during traveling?

You are right, Wan.

I didn't sleep in luxurious (4-5 star) hotels. The best hotel I used was on Mt. Jiuhua when I came there during my first visit. It is said that Jiang Zemin (former president of China) once stayed there. The hostel in Pingyao also impressed me a lot. The locals changed their courtyards into hostels. It's a good experience to sleep on the Kang in a typical Shaanxi local guest house.

Wan, those hotels who are allowed to receive foreigners must have staff who can speak English.

At one time I stayed at a hotel in SZ but only meant for Chinese citizen, as I didn't have the Chinese ID card, I had to wait for someone from Xinhui to arrive. Funny thing is, the hotel wrote clearly the Welcome, Reception and other signage in English but was only meant for the Chinese nationals.

Wan,

I guess that hotel wanted to improve its customers' English by putting up signages in English.

By putting signage in English doesn't help much, Lonely. After all, most Chinese don't speak English with other Chinese.

I am just kidding. I guess that the hotel can only write "Welcome" because of their poor English.
