Well, I think they will never lose because they all know average people can't eat too much. I don't know why you guys go to the cafeteria. I go there because I can taste several kinds of dishes.

Wan, the food prices are increasing rapidly. Last night, I ate with my friend. We too just ordered Tofu with bamboo shoots and Fish with Chinese Sauerkraut. These two dishes cost us CNY 56, more expensive than eating in a cafeteria.

You should compare proces in HK too. On 20th I had my breakfast at a "roadside" stall, with garlic nan (bread) and chicken masala, cost HKD140 for two persons. Last night for dinner with 8 persons, with noodles, fish, corn soup, and two other dishes cost me RMB800 (in Shenzhen).

Yes, it depends on income level and price actually. I know that in Shenzhen, peoples's average income is much higher than western China cities like Xian.

in Shenzhen there's a Xi'an restaurant in Hubei Lu, Luohu. It has authentic Xi'an cooking and I always ordered Xi'an glass noodles, and cold dishes for my friends (such as cow's tendons 蹄筋).

You like them, right? We call famous xian foods "三秦套餐",which includes cold noodles, chinese hamburger(pita-like bun filled with fatty pork)and rice/millet gruel.
Do you think the price differs a lot in those two cities?

I have been to Xi'an only twice and it was a long time ago while SZ more than 50 times. I don't know the current price(s) in Xi'an so I can't really comment.

I may answer your question because I am a local girl in Xian. The food prices are skyrocketing. In 2007 and 2008, a bowl of authentic Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup cost around CNY 12-15. Now, it costs nearly CNY 30. A bowl of cold noodle cost CNY 1.5 to 2. Now, it costs CNY 4 to 5. So damn expensive!

In Shenzhen too, though not as expensive as in Hong Kong. Sometimes I just wonder how some of my friends survive their lives in China. Take Beijing for example, 3-room apartment is almost RMB10k per month.
