In some places, live fowl trade has been forbidden. As a result, the farmers who raise chickens and ducks have suffered great losses. In Fujian, a farmer has to kill more than 10000 newborn ducklings every day. If he doesn’t kill them, he will lose more money when the ducklings grow up. In Zhejiang, a farmer raises around 1800 chickens. Before the outbreak of the H7N9 bird flu, he could sell more than 700 eggs per day. Now, his business becomes much worse than before. Once he watched on TV and some experts said that radix isatidis granules can prevent humans from flue. Then he thought his chickens could be saved if he fed chicken radix isatidis granules. He went to many pharmacies and finally bought 100 bags of radix isatidis granules. Can his chickens be saved? Not for sure. The radix isatidis granules can prevent common cold. However, it can’t prevent or cure H7N9 bird flu. Remember it is a kind of tradtitional Chinese medicine and H7N9 bird flu is caused by virus.
