On April 9, 2012, Shenzhen Metro and Shenzhen Radio Station launched a special activity. They put umbrellas at every metro station to help those who are in need of when it rains. The passengers just need to register their names and phone numbers if they want to borrow the umbrellas.

More than a year has passed. 2196 umbrellas have been distributed out to the metro stations. Sadly, only around 70 umbrellas are returned. Where are the left ones? The passengers borrowed them but never returned them back. When the metro stations tried to contact those who borrowed the umbrellas, they found out that they registered with non-existent phone numbers.

Actually, there are some other umbrellas at the metro stations. The passengers are required to deposit 50 RMB when they borrow the umbrellas. According to the Shenzhen Metro, 90 percent of those umbrellas are returned.

The passengers are very clever. It is too expensive to spend 50 RMB on an umbrella. But they never forget to bring free umbrellas away.

It is a matter of attitude. We should return back things that do not belong to us.

Wan, it's a matter of personality. I see that there are too many selfish people in Shenzhen. They don't care whether other people will need the umbrellas.

Most Shenzhen dwellers are not local. Many of them come from various parts of Mainland China, and even from Xianggang. Thus we can see various kinds of people with different attitudes. Like other big cities, there are pickpockets, cheaters and other bad hats in Shenzhen.

Some people were born as self-seekers. I should say there are too many self-seekers in China. So it is immature to provide 'free meals' to them. They eat as much as they want and never forget to bring some back home.

It's not surprised, dear Raindrop as China has more population than any other parts of the world.

Raindrop,

Self-seekers are everywhere, even in the developped countries. At least, we do not hear that rape cases occur frequently in Beijing.
