I am thinking this way probably because we enjoy free medical and hospitalisation and lots of other fringe benefits. Yes, Wan. Chinese people are different. They have the gene of saving money. My parents who have been through famine in 1950s and culture revolution always tell me that I should save money just in case of emergency. They tell me thousands of times that I should take care of myself. You know, an illness might waste all your savings sometimes. If I have free education and medical care, I won't worry about anything.

Oh I see I'm very late to add in my 10 cents here lol but yes children are instinctively curious and want to know everything so yes I think an age appropriate "birds and the bees" talk would be the answer here. just make sure not to confuse them even more with the explanation given!

Mark, Even you explain everything to them, they may still not understand it. It's too complicated.

Anyway, you need to have an answer in case your children ask you about it. I'd like to hear how the doctors or nurses tell their children if their children ask this problem. Do they use technical words?
