When I was in primary school, I had to go to school and get back home on foot. Our school didn’t have the school bus. In the first days, my dad escorted me to school and picked me up after school. After I was familiar with the road, my dad didn’t escort me anymore. I went to school and got back on foot.

Today, many kindergartens and primary schools have their own school buses now. Every morning, I see the same yellow school bus transporting the students to the school which is not far from my home. It’s beautiful.

Compared with those students in the cities, those living in the Liuzhuang Village of Zhongmou County of Henan Province have a special school bus. It is a three-wheel motor-cycle driven by their parents in turn. According to the students’ parents, their kids’ school doesn’t have the school bus.

The kids’ school is located next to a busy road. There are too many vehicles so that their parents are worried about their kids’ safety. Then they drive a three-wheel motor-cycle in turn to send their kids to the school and pick them up after school.

How many students are there on the three-wheel motor cycle? 31, according to the driver.

When I was in primary school I used trishaw to commute. When I was nine, my father passed away and he's the only breadwinner thus I needed to walk to school, not so far but about 2km or so. We were so poor with 9 other siblings, that we couldn;t afford to have decent meal although I sell food before going to school. No breakfast or lunch for us, we have only dinner. Sometimes I fainted at the roadside due to hunger and thirst.

Two years later 4 of my brothers stopped schooling and they managed to work and with meagre income they can support us and our mom. Life is not easy for us. Six of our siblings didn't finish school, where two of them dropped from the university just to provide us our daily provisions. Only the last four managed to complete their tertiary education. My brother no. 7 specialises in civics design, my sister no. 8 is a mathematics specialist.

Sorry to hear about this, Wan.

Compared with you, I had better school life. My parents supported me until I finished my college education though they didn't have too much money.

Dear BBQQ, I will tell to my children about my background and the hardship I have endured so that they know their root and not to be arrogant or selfish.

If they are willing to hear your experiences, Wan. Some young poeple just indulge themselves too much. They neve care about where the money comes from and how hard it was for their parents to earn the money.

Please be noted that I didn't mean that your children are among "some young people" I said above. You are a good man and I think your children are good too.

I understand dear BBQQ. The children, like in the previous post, still depended on their parents for bride money that drives him crazy to suicide. What can we expect from new graduates? Working with income barely 3000 per month, how can he buy a house, provide many things for the wife to-be? He doesn't even have a proper savings! I think I have posted somewhere before, when I got married, a rented a house, 3-bedroom low cost terrace house that 8 years later I bought that house for MYR35k. That was what I could afford. But I tried my best to support a family that I have.

That's true, Wan. Houses are the necessity in life. If most people can't afford to buy it, then a social problem will occur.

One thing for sure, dear BBQQ, when people buy house, they are making banks grow fat due to high interest rate.

Wan,

People can't do nothing but "work for" the banks. They need a place to live and marry a wife. I know a man who earns around CNY 4000 per month. He bought an apartment one year ago. He has to pay around CNY 3000 to the bank. I once asked him "Why did you buy apartment?" He answered "I wouldn't if I had a choice. I am nearly 30 now but still don't have a wife. I have dated some girls. They refuse me finally because I don't have an apartment. I don't blame them. It's no wrong that they want to have a plae to live. Thus, I spent all my savings buying the apartment with the help of my parents."

Yes, it's a pity to spend so much for a house sometimes can never be called a home. Life in Malaysia is not the same as in China. I didn't buy any house when marrying a girl of my own choice (which later endorsed by my mom and eldest brother). We rented a house for 8 years. My salary was small and couldn't afford to buy a house although it's cheaper than China. Later the house owner took pity of us, and he offered us the house at RM36000 (which I think you can never get in China!) for a low-cost house with 3 bedrooms on the second floor, while on the first floor are kitchen, toilet and living room.

36000 Yuan for a house? It's impossible to buy a house at this price.
