I have a single entry visa for China. What I would like to know is if I travel from Shanghai to Hongkong then from Hongkong to Nanning is that ok with a single entry visa? Or does it mean that I am leaving China and require another single entry visa by going to Hongkong. Help please.

GUEST677843 You need to get a double entry one. If not, you may apply for another single entry one in HK for your second trip to Nanning.

Going to HK counts as exiting China so you will need to apply for another entry visa.

You may travel to HK, then to Shanghai and Nanning, then single entry visa suffices.
