Litchi is a kind of subtropical fruit in southern China. It is usually ripe in June. People just need to get rid of its kernel and then put the pulp into the mouth. This is the easiest way to eat it. Actually, there are some other ways. I prefer to eat icy litchi. Just put them on the ice for half an hour and then you can enjoy icy litchi.

In southern Fujian Province, locals have a special way to eat litchi. They get rid of its litchi, dip the pulp in soy sauce and then eat it. Its taste is complicated but nice.

Are there any other methods? Some people say it’s ok to eat litchi with salt, chili powder or oyster sauce. Other fruits like waxberry, mango, watermelon, pineapple and carambola can be eaten in this way too.

Have you tried the canned lychee in syrup? Just put some ice-cubes and add some water so that the juice won't be too sweet. Drink during hot summer.

Wan,

In fact I am not fond of those preserved fruits. Fresh ones are ok.

I used to make lychee in syrup and store it in the fridge. The same I did for young mango. As old age is catching up, I consume less sugar or none at all.

Here is another way. Hollow the litchi and put some meat fillings inside and then stir-fry them until them meat is ok. Can you imagine it tastes, sweet or salty?
