Perhaps, my experience on the train journey back to my home in January can be a good example. I was in the hard-berth carriage. A carriage has two smoking areas (at the beginning and the end of the carriage). A man on the lower berth just lit up a cigarette and I immediately smelled the smoke. Then I told him to smoke in the smoking area. He said "It's no big deal. I will finish it quickly." I repeated my words again but he still didn't move. Suddenly, two passengers who slept in the middle berths asked him to smoke in the smoking area. The man had no choice but put out his cigarette. As a non-smoker, you should say "No" when someone smokes besides you.
