It's a bit difficult for foreigners to come to visit there. You have to join a group tour and get a Tibet Travel Permit in advance.

For December I have 23 days in China. Tibet definitely not in my itinerary. Places that I have earmarked are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Shanghai, Beijing. On 24th the ticket to Beijing from Shanghai is cheaper. Wan

It seems that you just focus on the southern cities. What about northern cities? I know you visited Xian before.

I have been to Harbin, HLJ, Tanggu (Tianjin), and several other parts of China. As you may understand, to cushion my expenses, I bring along some Malaysian counterparts and most of them prefer southern's food which is almost familiar with Malaysian food. A lot of Malaysian Chinese are either from Fujian, Guangdong and Hainan. Guangzhou is the business hub in China which is familiar with many Malaysians. Wan

Ok, thanks for telling me, Wan.

For business people, they won't go to Xi'an or Harbin unless they are travel agents that involve in tourism. I am observing and scouting some business areas to share the information with retailers in Malaysia so that they will know where to go. It is good to be able to help others. Some of my contacts even introduce Business Mandarin, where business people learn simple Mandarin (Putonghua) for them to communicate. Learning simple or introductory Mandarin for 48 hours (in 3 months) and visit to business areas in both Guangzhou and Shenzhen, especially for Canton Fair. Wan

How much can they learn by taking 48 hours lessons? Not much, I think. Otherwise, they wouldn't have hired English speaking guys.

Sometimes a guide is needed not because of one's inability to communicate. For example, many of my friends who are well-versed in English still require English speaking guide when they visit UK. Wan

Why do they require English speaking guides? I think they can solve their problems on their own.
