If you are a forienger and like to drink Kunming is the place! There are at the moment two bars that are offering free drinks to foriengers.
Why you ask?
Well just for the reason we are foriengers. They think its good for business to have us around so at two places they offer 4 beer and two whisky. In all honesty its drink, dance, and have fun, all night. Sounds like fun hey, come over and check it out.

WOW! when I saw the Hump it was so awesome. It lets you rent bikes. If you the type of couple that like to go out riding bikes during the day and get frisky at night you'll love the Hump.

Because of the difference in temperature
By BETH | 6/2/2004 3:45:50 PM

For Kunming's obvious big difference in temperature of day time and night, you'd better take several pieces of warm clothing for the night, and prepare a pair of sunglass and some sun block for the strong ultraviolet radiation of the day time.
In addition, do take fruits and water more to avoid dehydration.

The Across Bridge Rice Noodle
By KATE | 5/28/2004 2:16:25 PM

It is the famous snack (or can be said as the staple food of Yunnanee)in Kunming. And now you can find this food in most cities, but only the one in Kunming is authentic. Hot and delicious chicken broth, fresh vegetable and meat, and rice noodles.
Also there has a beautiful story for it. If you go to Kunming, please don't miss this tasty food. Delicious!!!

Flowers
By DAISY | 5/19/2004 4:47:04 PM

Also Kunming is famous for its comfortable climate. Here you will feel no bitter cold in winter or no extreme hot in summer. So does flower. So Kunming is a "supermarket" of all kings of fresh flowers. In Kunming, you can buy fresh flowers for low prices. For example, roses in winter cost most at 10RMB for a dozen. Cheap!! $_$

Pu'er tea, Kunming
By DAISY | 5/19/2004 4:34:19 PM

As each region has its own specialty, different region has different type of tea. Kunming's Pu'er tea is very famous!
In Kunming, you will find different kind of tea from all over China, but here please focus on the local flavour -Pu'er, BanTianYao and QiYeDan.

Look for the tea "discus" and "bricks". These are Pu'er tea compressed into shapes of discus or bricks. Good souvenirs.

About RMB350 or so for 500g of tea, depending on type and grade.
