Wan,

China has become your second home, I think. Why not visit some other countries?

Other countries are too expensive to visit. Anyway China has a lot to offer, including TCM, and household products that I can bring back. Besides, I'm writing and observing certain areas in China as I'm supervising one research by a student about the Arabs and Persian influence during Tang, Song and Ming dynasties. Thus I went to Xi'an as it was the seat of Tang's rule and Kaifeng and Hangzhou for Song's rule. I'm sure you know more abut China's history and your assistance could be helpful.

My research is only based through observation. Many foreigners write stories about China, such as Gladney and Israeli, Goman, etc. I'm trying to find some Chinese articles and books which later can be translated by some friends.

GUEST92131, what do you expect for me?

Wan, the same thing looks different in different people's eyes. An expat's stories are totally different from those written by the travelers. It needs time to have a full understanding a place.

Well I am neither an expat, just an observer. I need to observe at various angles. We know that human beings have their own opinions and differences. Many historical facts in China are based from the Tang's Chronicles, botg old and new. Before Tang's period, perhaps there are some writings but I am yet to acquire or read. Many foreigners seem to "self-claimed" themselves as Chinese experts and teach Chinese history in their own localities. In Australia we have Gladney and Leslie who make extensive research on China and its peoples. Also Arab early writers such as Abu Zayd, Tabari, Masudi and Yaqubi which I am yet to decipher. I am lucky enough to have a few librarians and non-librarians especially in Shenzhen and Jiangmen where they take great painstaking to translate certain information from the Old Tang (旧唐书) Chronicle.

Wan,

You miss another great book "Shi Ji" written by Si Maqian, a great historian in the Western Han Dynasty.

Han Dynasty is too far back, even before Qin Dynasty. My main concern is about the emergence of dashi to China during Tang. The students are doing research on the assimilation and relationship of certain dashi and boshi during Tang until Ming dynasties. Then the year of the warlords during Qing (until 1911).
